The photograph for April's featured fragrance is one of my most favorite out of entire line. It's from a lavender field in Provence, France and everytime I look at it I want to be there. Since I wont be updating my passport and jet-setting off to Europe anytime soon, a desktop wallpaper will be the next best thing. Hello again! Is anyone else inspired by the beautiful weather we're having in Ohio right now? It's absolutely gorgeous out and to quote a friend, I feel like I have "warm weather ADD". What's that? It's when you are so energized by the bright sunny day that you just can't settle on one thing to do. "I can wash the car. I can mow the lawn. Or go golfing. Or weed the flower beds. Or I can clean out the garage. Or I can build the composte box. Or I could..." If this is you, I want you to stop, breathe, and remember that it's only MARCH!

Pick one thing that will make you happy and if you can do that one activity in this southern-style spring weather, go for it.

It's been a long while since I've posted some palettes. And with so much inspiration blooming, today seemed like a perfect time to post some new ones.

St. Patty's Day - Root Style

What a gorgeous weekend to don our greenest clothes and eat green eggs, drink green beverages and add an "O" or "Mc" to our surnames. It's also a great weekend to celebrate a member of the Root family. Stu Root celebrates his 70th trip around the sun tomorrow, March 17th.

The Root party planning committee pulled off quite the covert-op, claiming this was mearly a gathering for cabbage and corned beef. When Stu walked into the room full of Root employees, he was greeted with "surprise!" and a round of "happy birthday to you". Here are some photos of the cheerful event.

Secretary of State joins Root Candles and friends for Pancakes

We at Root Candles are really excited about our newest candle line American Experiences. To celebrate we threw a little party, a pancake breakfast, yesterday morning and invited a few good friends.

Along with Ohio's Secretary of State, Jon Husted, the guest list included Root employees, retailers who proudly shelve Root Candles, and vendors who too are American-made companies.

Secretary Husted took time to address our guests and was very complimentary of our people and our products.

“How do you make a country great? You look at a company like this one that’s been around for 143 years,” Husted said during his brief keynote address.

All of the Root team worked hard to pull together a splendid event that all enjoyed and everyone left with full-bellies and a new understanding of what makes a Root Candle so special.

It was a fun time celebrating one company's role in the lives of many Americans. As CEO Rex Mason stated, "We're made in Ohio, with Ohio materials and made by Ohioans. Honesty, integrity and plain old hard work is what we go by." Our plan is to keep doing exactly that.

I say way to go and keep it up! I too have resolved to do the same because when I'm low on energy, life just isn't much fun. Holiday Decorating Ideas with Root Candles

I was back on the air today on the Cleveland morning show Good Company. It was super fun! "I'm not a candle expert, I just play one on TV". I often say that to my boss and he cracks up! I have done it a few times now and have become pretty comfortable with it all. I'm a born to ham it up.

With the Christmas season upon us my plan was to show some clever ideas of how to add more dazzle to your holiday decor. Cold weather months are the best for enjoying your candles, and adding a personal touch to your decorations brings out the personality of your home. And what guests wouldn't love that?

Here are some snapshots from the table set-up. I do have the advantage of having the 22,000 sq. ft. store at my disposal when it comes to preparing for the show, but my hope is that you find a new way to display the great stuff you already have. In my opinion, keep it simple. Find one thing that you love and go with that. But if you feel the need to fill every room in your house, more power to you!

Holiday Season is a Root Candle Season

What a joy the holiday season is: the food, the wine, the time spent with family, getting time off work, festive decorations and Christmas songs, the holiday classic movies, A Christmas Story, which was filmed in our beloved Cleveland, Ohio, and all the other trimmings of the Christmas season. Sure it can be overwhelming. But instead of struggling to search for the perfect gift, give the one gift that can't be bought at the store, the gift of time. How precious and generous it is. Make this year the year to celebrate with people you know and love, or those you don't know but still need kindness and love. Don't let the holiday pressures get the best of you, instead relax, take ten, light a Root Candle and live in the moment and love the life that is happening around you.

Let's begin today's post with the importance of our Veterans. We couldn't enjoy the bountiful freedoms we have without them and their sacrifice. All gave their time and courage, and some gave their lives. To all of them we are grateful and send thoughts and prayers of thankfulness, prosperity and peace for them and their families that stand bravely beside them. It is because of them that we can proudly be an American company.

I love what Colleen, one of our Root employees, posted today, "Not everyone can be selfless, that's why they are known as Veterans. Remember that." We will.
